Management of Prenatal, Neonatal, Pre-adolescent Ovarian Cysts
Jeon Gyun-Ho

Kang Byung-Moon
Abstract
Ovarian cysts are recognized as a consequence of follicular growth and atresia that can be a normal developmental occurrence at all ages from early prenatal life to beyond senility. These ovarian cysts frequently regress without treatment but some cases have been described to be complicated by rupture, hemorrhage and torsion. The rate of detection of prenatal, neonatal and pre-adolescent ovarian cysts has also increased since the introduction of routine prenatal sonography and frequent use of computed tomography (CT) recently. However, there is no standard treatment of these ovarian cysts, and their management varies widely among different centers and departments. This article will review the management guidelines for ovarian cyst in fetus, neonates, children / pre-adolescent girls.
